Over the years, John W. Bell has represented numerous clients in various capacities, including the City of Atlanta, the Georgia Department of Transportation, Cobb County, Fulton County, Gwinnett County, the PATH Foundation, the City of Roswell, and the City of Sandy Springs.
A small sample of John’s involvement in major projects is listed below.
Served as the lead outside attorney foassisting the City of Atlanta’s Law Department with real estate closings involving the acquisition of over 500 heavily-developed commercial, industrial and residential acres for the Fifth Runway at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, which was the country’s largest public works project at the time (1997-2005) and which added needed infrastructure to ensure the facility’s continued reputation of being the world’s busiest airport.
The two-phase project, which required the construction of a runway across I-285, involved the acquisition of several hundred parcels, including office buildings, industrial warehouses, restaurants, apartment complexes, entire residential neighborhoods, and gasoline service stations.
John had the privilege of ordering and reviewing title certificates and title insurance policies, clearing title problems, reviewing Phase I and Phase II environmental assessments, performing legal research, providing legal advice, preparing various closing documents, and directly assisting the City of Atlanta’s Law Department with countless closings.
Assisted a developer in 2019 with the acquisition of 40 individual residential condominium units for a complete tear-down and re-build as a hi-rise development.
Handled the real estate closings and the preparation of condemnation petitions needed for the 17th Street Bridge and related roadways associated with the construction of the Atlantic Station development in Midtown Atlanta.
Prepared all condemnation petitions required by the Georgia Department of Transportation.
